For this particular cookie design, here are the supplies you'll need:
- Bunny or chic with ball cap cookie cutter - I designed this one. If you want one, I sell them for $5 each
- Chefmaster liqua gels in white (yes, I do put a little white in my
white icing), turquoise, orange, black, yellow and bakers rose
- Royal icing - I make mine with Genies Dream meringue powder
- Edible marker
- Pink luster dust
- Food safe brush
Icing Consistencies & Colors
- Flood - white, yellow, pink, black and turquoise
- Detail - white, yellow, orange, pink and turquoise
The bunny and the chic are decorated basically the same. I'm going to give the steps for the bunny. You can modify for the chic. The last step on the chic is adding the yellow hair tuft on the ball cap - you do this by outlining with detail and filling with flood icing.
Now, let's dive into the steps:
- Using your edible marker, draw these lines (1) separating the ball cap from the head, (2) separating the bunny ears from the face, (3) the area on the ball cap where the white shows through and (4) the circles for the eyes
- With your turquoise detail icing, outline the outside of the ball cap and the area around the white showing through on the ball cap
- Fill this entire area with turquoise flood icing
- Fill the circle where the white hair shows through with white flood icing
- With your white detail icing, outline the ears and then fill with white flood icing - remember to always use your scribe to settle the icing and fill in gaps
- Set aside and let the icing crust over - in front of a small fan on low is great
- Using white detail icing, outline the outside of the face (not along the ear area or the ballcap area), where there is no icing. And outline around the eyes
- Fill the face with white flood icing
- Fill the eyes with black flood icing
- Using the tip of your scribe, put a tiny spec of white flood icing into the black of the eye
- Using your turquoise detail icing, draw the details on the ball cap
- Set aside for several hours and let dry
- Using your luster dust and paint brush, add the pink to the cheeks
- Using your pink detail, add the nose
- Using your edible marker, add the eye lashes, mouth line, eyebrows and freckles
That's it! Allow the cookie to dry for 24 hours, and it'll be ready to go. Wishing you the best of luck on your decorating journey, and I can't wait to see your beautiful creations!
